Meet the Thern Team – Mike Waldherr

Meet Mike!

Mike Waldherr is a Parts and Service Specialist who has been with Thern for the last 13 years. Mike spent 15 years with another manufacturing company before joining the Thern team. He gained a lot of valuable knowledge and experience during that time. When he started searching for another organization to work, he decided to apply his expertise to a role where he felt he could make a positive difference. Thern was the place for him! At Thern, Mike feels like more than just another employee, he knows that his voice is being heard.

Mike believes he’s found more than just a place to work, he’s found a family. He enjoys hanging out outside of work with many of his co-workers. One of his favorite events with his colleagues is the annual “Lamey Open.” A golf festival, first initiated 20 years ago by Tony Lamey, doubles as a friendly golfing experience with friends and a fundraising event dedicated to raising money for various types of cancer.

One thing that surprised Mike when he first started at Thern was how generous the employees were. In 2009, Mike and his family found out that his Mother’s cancer was incurable. He informed his supervisor he needed time away to be with her in her final days. At the time, Mike had two weeks of paid vacation but ended up being gone for three weeks. When he had returned he was informed that another employee donated one week’s worth of their vacation to him so he did not have to lose the extra pay.

Mike moved from the Twin Cities to Winona 17 years ago, and is proud to call it his home. He couldn’t imagine living anywhere else. We feel very fortunate to have Mike as a part of our team and we wouldn’t want to imagine it any other way!
